Hi. I adjusted the fan speed settings in BIOS and then logged into my account. After that, my Windows seemed to become unresponsive. Once I logged in, Discord started automatically (since it was configured to launch on startup), but it stuck on the loading screen. I couldn't open any applications, including Google, Task Manager, or File Explorer. No matter how many times I tried, nothing opened. The PC wasn’t completely frozen; hovering over icons gave the right animations and launching the start menu worked. Still, clicking programs didn’t bring anything up. I also couldn’t power off the computer from the Start menu. It felt like the system would just freeze until I changed the BIOS settings again. Anyone know what might have caused this issue?

Check for any issues in the event viewer that might explain the freeze.

I examined the event log under windows protocols>system and found only critical errors when attempting a forceful restart. Beyond that, there was a high number of warnings (10) from LSA that appeared after turning on the PC. The notes indicate (translated): The Local Authority Security package isn’t formatted as expected. This may lead to unpredictable actions with Credential Guard. Additionally, another warning appears once after the spam, originating from DistributedCOM. It states: Enforcement of specific policies for the COM server application is now being enforced for the application with CLSID {2593F8B9-4EAF-457C-B68A-50F6B8EA6B54} and APPID {15C20B67-12E7-4BB6-92BB-7AFF07997402} running on DESKTOP-9SSL0GI (SID: S-1-5-21-931505908-1024721871-136210299-1001). This policy is currently unavailable – it can be resolved using the component management tool. That’s all the notable events visible in the event viewer (under Windows system protocol>system).

You can manage the fan curve through an app rather than via BIOS settings, allowing more flexibility and customization options.

Attempted to adjust the fan settings using FanControl. I set a flat curve for testing and restarted the computer to mimic a boot-up. Logged in, Discord worked properly... but then the freeze occurred again, this time slightly later than after changing the fan curve via BIOS. I became nervous because I wasn't sure if I could revert the curve back to default in BIOS. After reviewing the BIOS settings, I logged in and everything functioned normally. My thought was that the issue resolved after the second restart since the application didn't activate immediately, allowing me to delete files without being alerted it was running in the background. I rechecked the Event Viewer and noticed consistent LSA warnings and some DistributedCOM alerts.

The freezing issue has come back again and I don’t know what to do. The BIOS trick isn’t helping. I’ve tried everything.

I've attempted a factory reset on Windows, but the system froze afterward. Updating the BIOS didn't resolve the issue either. Safe mode is functioning properly. I'm unsure what to try next.

Did you try resetting CMOS? try leaving the battery out for 30 minutes minimum (disconnect pc from power fully during that time) Maybe the battery needs to be replaced also.

What version of the BIOS was reinstalled? How are the cooling systems and temperatures performing? What about the remaining hardware components?
