The BIO flash is not functioning properly.
I've been working on assembling the PC for a while now. Finally, everything seems in place, but I need to update the BIOS so my Ryzen 5 4500 CPU works with the MSI B450-A Pro Max motherboard. The part's manufacturing date is listed as December 2022, but I'm not sure if an update is necessary. I've gone through several tutorials about setting up three USB drives and formatting a partition for flashing the BIOS. Each USB keeps showing the 3 flash light error, which suggests the system doesn't recognize it. I've tried all the steps and am really concerned I might waste these expensive components.
It’s nice to see you’ve managed to assemble your PC. According to MSI’s website, you can obtain the newest BIOS for your motherboard by checking their support page for your board. You’ll be able to download the file, which includes both a text file and the actual BIOS. Place the BIOS file into the root folder of a USB stick or drive. If you encounter issues during the flashing process, you can use MSI’s M-FLASH utility. I hope this assists you!
Do you have a USB 3.0 storage device larger than 32GB? It bothers me because certain motherboards need a very low-capacity USB 2.0 drive to function properly.
Make sure to update your BIOS file by renaming it to MSI.ROM, ensuring it resides at the root of your USB drive. (follows instructions in section 40 of the user guide)
