A few B550 motherboards offer superior features compared to their X570 siblings, all at a more affordable price. Had both models been released together last year, I would definitely choose the B550 option.

I believe the high costs stem from limited availability at the moment. Many products are out of stock. Prices might stabilize once things gradually become more accessible again. To be honest, there doesn’t seem to be a solid justification for the B550 model. The B450 serves a similar purpose but with PCIe4 support. It would have been better if manufacturers had phased out the B550 and introduced something like the B455 with built-in compatibility for the newer 4000 series chips. Next year, aligning releases between models like B650 and Z670 could prevent gaps in the midrange and lower end. Currently, there’s little incentive to choose a Z570 over a B550 beyond USB 10Gb ports, which isn’t a strong selling point. With Intel, you can’t overclock H or Q series chips, making the Z series more appealing. For AMD, this distinction doesn’t exist in the same way.

Picture yourself starting from zero to grab a Ryzen 4000. Either you need to purchase top-of-the-line components or settle for an older board that might cause BIOS problems, but you’re clearly looking for the right motherboard!

We require two sets of high-end chipsets to ensure optimal performance and compatibility for advanced applications.

If choosing between these chipsets feels overwhelming, opt for a ready-made solution. Crafting a PC involves planning and effort; purchasing a prebuilt avoids that hassle. The X570 is designed as a workstation from the start, while AMD has been postponing the B550 release, causing confusion.

works fine, but I’m leaning toward the new B550M mortar just because of how it looks.
