Hello everyone! I recently bought an ASUS Vivobook laptop and everything was working well until suddenly my headphones stopped working completely. Everything looked new, and I didn't change anything or touch settings, but just like that, there was no sound coming out of the headphones. The speakers actually worked fine on their own, and Windows even recognized them in the list. However, nothing played through them. I tried unplugging them and plugging them back in again, uninstalling and reinstalling the audio drivers, running Windows troubleshooters, toggling device settings on the Device Manager, experimenting with various tweaks after watching some YouTube 'fixes', trying new headphones, rebooting, shutting down and restarting the laptop dozens of times more. Finally, I decided to format Windows, but there was still no sound even then. I thought it was a hardware problem that the headphone jack had broken completely. I packed up the laptop for the day when I was already planning to give it back. But just as I was leaving, I tried connecting the headphones one last time, and this time everything worked perfectly! Can anyone please tell me what is going on here? I feel like this kind of thing happens sometimes, so obviously I can't let go or format my laptop for long periods every single time it breaks. Would really appreciate some advice here. Thanks!
Doesn't fix the real issue, but there are tons of great USB headphones if the plug keeps cutting out. Usually, these little thin wires inside the headphone cable snap and stop working. If you twist the cable wrong, it breaks too. Have you ever tried a second pair at once?
Yeah, I tried a few headphones and no sound showed up. Then I messed with all the audio settings in every way possible, but nothing worked. Finally, I re-wrote my Windows 11 and still nothing happened. But then suddenly the sound came back through the headphones (and it's working for me right now). I just can't figure out what caused this or how to fix anything if it comes back again. I'm pretty sure it will happen soon anyway.
