Using a TV as a monitor through HDMI Samsung Q95B GPU with a 3080Ti CPU and 13700K on Windows 11 at 4K resolution works. When HDR is enabled and refresh is set to 120Hz, audio drops briefly every few seconds (every 4 to 20 seconds). Without HDR and refresh at 60, audio remains stable. HDR on via Windows display settings causes issues when refresh exceeds 60. This suggests a possibly faulty cable—ideal cables support 8K or 4K at 120Hz.

Generally, if it's a cable issue, the video is likely affected. However, it seems more like a bandwidth problem. Just because a cable advertises 8K or 4K at 120Hz doesn't guarantee it will work for longer distances—depending on quality, the maximum length is usually around 3 meters. For up to 3 meters, HDMI 2.1 with 2m range can support 4K at 10-bit depth. Beyond that, you'll need a better cable or switch. After 3 meters, active or optical connections are necessary. But in practice, video issues like glitches and cuts often persist even with different cables. It's common for claims to be overstated, especially when length matters.

Absolutely, giving it a fresh cable would be a good idea.

the cable is 10 feet long and i've tested two of them. it's completely possible i have two faulty cables. i'll place an order for a third one and hope for the best.

I believe there's a chance I'm having the same issue, excelt these screens and cables didn't have this issue on my previous PC - which was Windows 10. I built a new machine and occasionally have the audio "pausing for 1-2 seconds" issue - with video, the video stalls for that time, with games, the games continue during that "outage." As I said, the same screens and cables worked fine before, so I am chalking it up as a Win11 problem. I have recently upgraded the GPU, which did not solve the problem, but weirdly, did lessen the frequency. A restart makes the problem go away for the rest of the day, and a few days later, it will start occasionally happening again. Could your issue match mine?

Regrettably, just my audio glitches—your video kept playing smoothly afterward. I've been dealing with strange problems for a whole year.

Sure, I can try to recreate the situation for you. Would it help if I attempted a fresh installation of Windows 10 on a spare drive? That way we can check if the problem continues.

Consider using a shorter cable. It’s unlikely to make much difference, but it might cause some signal loss after about 10 feet?

I’ll try it out next week when I’m back home. I’m using an LG 42” monitor, and I haven’t faced this problem before. I’ll check it and let you know the result.
