The attempt to increase performance encountered issues after installing a new graphics card.
Asus p6t deluxe v2 is equipped with an 850 watt power supply, three 4gb Corsair vengence DDR3 modules, a Core i7 960 processor, an RX 460 4gb (older) and an RX 480 8gb MSI model. It features three 128gb running raid drives. The issue stems from an overclocked graphics card that caused extreme heat. Previously stable at 4ghz with the RX 460 in dual DIMMs, this setup now fails to overclock with the new GPU. Despite unchanged BIOS settings, the system detects the new card as a single channel and boots into an error message when the clock is pressed. The problem persists even after switching RAM to triple channel mode, though it worked before. All RAM sticks function correctly. At 14 years old, I recently upgraded from a console to a PC using minimal funds, and this situation is quite confusing. I’m open to any advice or questions—feel free to ask! Thank you!!!
i had a similiar issue, and one of the "gurus" (actually pretty sharp individual) posted that the problem isn't with the GPU, but the fact that the GPU is putting more stress on the CPU in terms of communicating with it and requiring instruction sets from it
so basically, A GPU increases the CPU's load
here's a link - i started the thread, and basically i stated that my CPU is stable when running Prime95 without the GPU installed, so i was asking if the GPU had gone south

and the response a few posts down

UPDATE - my BSODs stopped when i set AVX offset to -3, which basically drops your OC by 300 MHz whenever the cpu encounters work loads requiring AVX instruction sets
Yeah, I understand what you're talking about. On my end, even a small overclock of around .1ghz doesn't get me started. I don't think the CPU or GPU was the issue—I think my memory is the problem. I've had similar issues before where it won't run in triple channel mode, but that's fixed. Sometimes when the MHz on the DRAM isn't exactly what it should be, it also causes problems. Last time it worked, I just replaced the RAM slots and swapped in a new GPU. I even tried putting the old one back in with everything the same as before, but it still won't boot with a tiny overclock.
sorry, i don't see that in your original post.
i wish i could assist you—msi offers a solid "OC by the numbers" guide on their site. some terms in their BIOS might differ slightly, but it shouldn't take long to match them to your system. this could ease some confusion.

Update: the bclk frequency will not boot into windows if it's surpases 136 or 130, I have no clue why it used to work on 191 but now it just doesn't... Anyone know if I can fix this please help, I just bought that RX 480 and can't use it to it's potential at all
