I purchased an ASUS Prime Z490-A motherboard along with a 10100f both used on eBay. Both appeared to be in good condition, except for a missing CMOS battery in the motherboard. I replaced the battery and put it into a case, which seemed fine after connecting it. I installed the RAM and CPU, but there was no storage yet since I wanted to test if it would boot first. After turning on the PSU switch, a green LED near the power button on the motherboard flashed green for a short time before settling to solid green. When I checked the manual, the LED suddenly turned off. I tried using the case power button (after connecting the header) and it didn’t work much—just spun a fan or started the PSU. Using the case button, jamming the pins with a screwdriver didn’t trigger anything. I’ve used this PSU before in another project and verified the pins are all within spec. My main concern is that the motherboard might have failed, but it had just had a LED on, so I’m unsure. There are no spare parts available except possibly another GPU.
I mentioned myself that the CMOS battery isn't present, so I'll attempt to install it and try again.
Collected additional cr2032 cells and noticed the batteries losing power rapidly. They maintain about 3.3v and drop to 2.7v within an hour. This is the quickest drain I've seen, suggesting the motherboard might be faulty.
