I’m really puzzled. Despite having experience with many computers, I’m stuck on setting up Wi-Fi on my new PC. It was installed on an old Windows system, and after rebuilding it with a 9600x speed, Asus Tuf B650m-plus, and g.skill RAM, I managed to boot but can’t connect to Wi-Fi since no device appears in Device Manager. When trying to change adapter settings, only "bluetooth network connections 2" and "ethernet 2" are listed.
I’ve tried downloading drivers, extracting the necessary files, and running the executable, but nothing happens. I updated Device Manager, checked for background updates, and even followed several guides. The only option left is installing a legacy device, though I’m unsure which drivers would work and whether my PC supports the required mediatek drivers (or possibly Intel ones).
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Welcome to the forums, newcomer! I'm trying to connect my PC to Wi-Fi after rebuilding it with a 9600x speed, an Asus Tuf B650m-plus, and g.skill RAM. It seems like you might have changed the motherboard. I managed to boot into the old Windows installation, but now it won't connect because no Wi-Fi device appears in Device Manager. I haven't reinstalled the OS yet. If my understanding is right, I'll need to reinstall the operating system for the WiFi adapter to work properly.

trying that, i'm not sure how to reinstall without having to enter the forgotten password from an old phone number account. Thanks for the advice—it seems the simplest solution is to use a USB network card instead of buying one. From trying everything, it looks like connecting to the internet during installation isn't working.
Your new motherboard lacks built-in wifi functionality. Do you possess a separate wifi card? Please specify its model. If your previous motherboard featured integrated wifi and you replaced it, connectivity will be lost. Restart AMD chipset drivers. To view all available drivers in the chipset section, click <Show All>. For example: https://www.asus.com/motherboards-c...es...B650M-PLUS. Reinstalling chipset drivers will likely trigger a re-detection of all PCIe devices. After this process, the wifi card should be recognized (unless no card is installed).
wrong. my board does have integrated wifi, ive worked in a tech shop for 6 years man. I used CMD and powershell and service manager to force the reinstillation of all drivers and that still did not work, thats why im talking about mediatek drivers, if it were an intel wifi chip i would just to a legacy install of that after deleting the driver but its not an intel chip so again, there is no way i can figure to get the driver to recognize the onboard wifi.
Asus Tuf B650m-plus does not include integrated wifi.

If integrated wifi existed, the back panel would feature ports for external antennas.
Currently, there are no connections available for external antennae.
It’s possible you’re using a different motherboard model that doesn’t display the name correctly.
my brother there are antenna ports on the back. I've been working in a microcenter for six years. If I say it has a WiFi antenna, it does have WiFi. guess what? you're an overly literal person, but that doesn't make me wrong.

believe it or not, working there for six years makes salesmen speak in shorthand because we know a new board almost always has WiFi—it's just how things work. my board has WiFi, just like I told you. here you are getting upset at someone who clearly knows how to spot the antenna on the back panel. if you treat everything so literally and expect perfection, you'll just end up with disappointment.
