I attempted to push the voltage a bit higher, staying within safe limits of 5-30 mV. The system crashed when I tried it, so I went back to my original settings without changing the mV. Now it’s around +185 mV, and I’m struggling to keep an overclock stable. I’m unsure if I damaged the card by adjusting the voltage, but from what I’ve seen on YouTube, it seems I was in a safe range. If anyone has solved this issue, please let me know.

Mike393 asked about the issue, seeking clarification on what causes crashes, whether it freezes the whole PC or just the video driver, and the age of the power supply. He mentioned problems with Arma 3 and other graphics-heavy games, noting the PSU is only a year old. He also shared that after uninstalling and reinstalling drivers via DDU, his frame rate improved noticeably.

The 970 STRIX is set to a fixed voltage of 1.212v. Increasing the voltage has no effect. Unless your card overheats, it's unlikely you damaged it. Keep in mind that a cooler device performs better. Design your own fan curve to maintain optimal cooling.

Vellinious :
The 970 STRIX is locked at 1.212v. Increasing the voltage doesn't help. Unless your card overheats, you probably didn't damage it. Keep it cool—cooler Maxwell performs better. Adjust the fan curve accordingly and maintain a stable temperature.
I tried your advice and modified the fan curve, but I crashed at 53°C. I'm unsure if it's a software problem or something else, other than the heat. I checked my cable connections and everything seems fine.
I recently cleaned my PC, so grime shouldn't be the issue now.

Check what's causing the issues. Is it affecting the entire system or just the video driver? How recent is your power supply unit?

Vellinious :
Run DDU, delete the previous drivers, then reinstall them with a new download.

It seems to be failing in Arma 3 and other graphics-heavy games I play often. I’ve noticed a DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED error, which suggests it’s either being physically removed, unplugged, or a driver update occurred. I don’t understand how this could happen, but I’m trying to figure it out.
Regarding your other questions, I always get a black screen when it crashes, which forces a restart to resolve the issue, and my PSU is only a year old.
EDIT: I’ve seen a slight improvement in FPS after uninstalling and reinstalling DDU, but when I move around or render complex scenes, it just crashes again.

Mike393 suggested using DDU, uninstalling the old drivers and reinstalling them with a new download. He asked about the crashing issue, whether it freezes the whole PC or just the video driver, and inquired about the age of the PSU. He mentioned experiencing crashes in Arma 3 and other graphics-heavy games, noting the DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED error. He shared that his PSU is only a year old and observed a slight improvement in FPS after reinstalling drivers. He recommended trying to revert to an older driver version or contacting ASUS for a return merchandise authorization if necessary.
