I purchased this board used, and it seems to function properly overall. However, I’m unable to hear any audio from the rear 3.5mm ports. I’ve installed official drivers from ASUS and some from Realtek, but nothing works. The sound chip isn’t showing up in Device Manager, and Ubuntu can’t locate any sound devices. When I run lspci, there’s no mention of a Realtek sound card. Is this because the chip is broken?

It's pretty common. I've even bought five replacement codecs from AliExpress after experiencing this more than once. Unfortunately, it's not something you can fix yourself unless you have the right tools and know-how.

Seller assured to return the item and cancel the transaction. But this purchase wasn’t made on eBay, which offers strong buyer safeguards, only a smaller auction platform. They claim buyer protection exists, but I have just 24 hours to verify—otherwise the seller keeps the money if I don’t dispute. Probably about to try that buyer protection for the first time.

I recently installed Windows 10 on my spare SSD. Once set up, I downloaded and installed AMD chipset drivers and Realtek audio drivers. Windows also added drivers for my test Nvidia graphics card. However, after all this, only the Nvidia HDMI port appears under sound devices. Plugging in headphones to the speaker jack gives no effect or response. If I need to troubleshoot sound issues, Windows only provides the Nvidia HDMI option.
