Today I powered up my system, but there was nothing. The motherboard lights weren’t showing at all. I switched to a different power cable for the PSU, but it didn’t work. I borrowed another PSU and connected its pins—24, 8, and 6—to the old one. It worked perfectly! After it started up, I turned it off and then shut it down. Now something strange happened. When I powered it off (whether I actually booted the PC or just switched off the PSU without starting the board), the motherboard lights flashed. Each flash had a distinct sound from the speakers. I repeated the test several times, counting the flashes—16, 14, 13, 12—and removed all unnecessary cables, even the 4-pin and 6-pin ones. This time the GPU light matched the motherboard light in rhythm.

My system specs are: Ryzen 1600, Asus ROG Strix B-350F gaming, 8 GB Corsair Vengeance RAM, 2400mhz RAM, Asus GTX 1060, 3 GB Corsair TX550M. The borrowed PSU was a Corsair CX450 (grey label). I’m trying to understand what’s causing these blinking lights and the accompanying sound.

According to the motherboard manual, there are no LED indicators or descriptions of blinking patterns. The orange light at the bottom right usually shows power status—either on or off. It never flashed before. Now it seems to be reacting to something internal, possibly a fault or electrical issue. I’m worried because the strange feedback through the speakers is unsettling.

I plan to get a new PSU soon (the CX550 model), but until then, this behavior is making me anxious. Could someone help me figure out what’s happening?
