I’m dealing with an issue on my Asus ROG Zephyrus GA503RM-G15. I’ve accessed the BIOS, adjusted several settings and reset everything to defaults. I downloaded the newest BIOS using the EZ Flash tool. After disconnecting the battery and resetting the CMOS, I tested external monitors via HDMI and even tried booting into Windows and Linux. No matter what I do, the ROG logo keeps appearing—Windows loading fails, then a black screen appears. I’m not sure if I should call in help or if I’m stuck with this problem.
Did it function before? What was the final action you took prior to this? It might be a corrupted operating system drive, Windows isn’t starting correctly, or it’s simply undergoing updates with a lag when the display resumes.
It functioned smoothly the previous time I used it. I was just playing some games and turned it off normally. I plan to check if leaving it on longer after hitting the black screen helps. I suspect booting from a USB might avoid the Windows issues, but it won’t let me pass the ROG logo. I’ll follow up later with an update. Thanks for taking the time to read my post!
The black screen indicates the ROG logo was displayed, but the exact reason isn't clear. A USB might work, yet the laptop could be attempting to boot from the OS drive instead, skipping the USB. You need to ensure the laptop is using the USB drive directly.
Yeah, I guess it is technically getting past the logo, I should have worded that last reply a little different lol. I just tried disabling all boot options except the flash drive with Windows 11 on it. Still getting the black screen. Not entirely convinced that it's Windows anymore. I just tried the USB on another pc, and it worked flawlessly as well
It might be the operating system drive causing issues. Try booting from a Windows USB to check functionality.
I took out the NVME module and left the USB bootable drive in. The black screen persisted after the logo appeared, even after waiting a while.
Hello, I encountered the same issue two days ago and have been searching for a fix. This method helped me, I hope it helps you too. I created this account to personally reach out since I understand what you're going through.
1. When the screen goes black, plug in any USB drive and listen for a sound indicating a connection. Once I connected an external hard drive, I heard Windows responding. If no sound comes, skip this step.
2. Remove the power adapter and let the battery drain completely or wait until the laptop shuts down on its own.
3. Wait five minutes and then restart the PC by pressing the power button once.
4. The system should now boot up properly.
5. If you chose Ultimate Mode in the settings, activate Armor Mode and adjust GPU settings to standard.
6. Your PC should now start without issues.
7. If it still doesn’t work, try draining the battery again—I’m still working through this problem and want to share my progress. Wishing you a great new year!
The black screen still shows a cursor, but it may not be visible depending on the settings or display configuration. When you move your mouse, the pointer should appear normally unless there are issues with the graphics driver or display resolution.
