The Asus laptop fails to power up.
Hi, my old laptop ASUS X550V is not turning on. When I plug the charger and press the ON button, green indicator lights up (bulb above the light) and dvd drive is making some sort of noise. The screen don't light up or there isn't any fan buzz or beeps. Specs: i5-3230M, GT720M, 4GB onboard RAM (I believe). I tried with battery, without it, different chargers also, additional ram. Nothing helped. Also I couldn't take out the bios battery to reset it. Thanks for help in advance EDIT: so after some time after pressing the on button the fan starts spinning but still no display (also nothing on external display)
I was expecting a simple solution, right? Then I decided to remove all RAM and any storage devices. Your PC isn’t starting properly, or it’s running extremely slow. I’ve noticed both faulty RAM and storage issues cause this kind of POST problem before. Try using just one RAM stick and no storage at all. You should at least get it to start up normally. Does your RAM have solder connections to the motherboard?
The RAM was my first idea, but 4gb is already soldered. Changing it externally didn’t help. The same applies to storage—no change whether you have it on or not.
Oof, the RAM is soldered in place. Because it’s soldered, you can’t boot up and if you can’t get it online, it’s probably the motherboard or RAM that’s failed. I’m not sure what else to try besides replacing the whole main board, which would cost more than buying a new laptop. Anyone have other suggestions? I think your laptop is probably done for now.
