Hi everyone. My Asus AX11000 tri-band Wi-Fi router has been reliable for six years. One of the eight antennas broke and came out incorrectly. I found a replacement on eBay for $23 that says it's an authentic antenna for this model. It has all eight antennas. I’m wondering if losing one will noticeably affect my Wi-Fi performance. Should I buy the new antenna or skip it? I’m not very technical, but I know that improperly balanced RF equipment can cause problems.

You could simply swap in any 2.4/5.8 antenna you find, a budget option works just fine. Based on the design, disconnecting the antenna might damage the radios linked to it, or it could reduce its power output to protect the electronics, which would lower performance.

I had the same worry about potential problems with the device. I'm searching the web for affordable alternatives, making sure to verify specifications carefully. Avoiding products without detailed info is important.

I wouldn't worry too much. Antenna's surprisingly not rocket science to function well enough. I fly FPV quads and it's amazing how a damaged antenna can still work fairly well overall. The initial Wi-Fi antenna options on Amazon look decent. Just make sure you choose the right connector—SMA or RP-SMA depending on your router. I suspect it might be RP-SMA, but double-check your hardware before spending money.

I don’t have enough details about the issue to confirm a simple fix. What’s affected? It might not be a physical damage but something internal. Why isn’t it fitting? We need clarity on the problem before suggesting a solution. If the router side is involved, replacing the antenna could just move the issue elsewhere.

The antenna where it connects to the router is damaged or missing. I can swap out another antenna and it works just fine. In that YouTube video, someone experienced the same issue at the 0:40 mark.
