Previously I installed my 2x8GB 3200MHz in slot 1 & 3, but only reached 2933MHz. In slots 2 & 4 it OC’d up to 3800MHz. Then I upgraded to a dual-rank 2x16GB kit and added the old unit in a 4-stick Intel setup, while getting a 5900X for a better price. Over time, a game would often face RAM overload and stutter. Eventually I replaced the old sticks with a new dual-rank kit and a 5900X, expecting around 2933MHz. Did it actually hit that speed? Was my Ryzen 5 3600 underperforming compared to newer models like Ryzen 9 or 5000? Should I try boosting it to 3600MHz? Is this typical? Any advice from daisy-chained motherboard builders would be great!

the board is structured differently rather than a simple daisy chain, which means it’s likely to reach over 3800 on four sticks while still handling four sticks well. I’d appreciate seeing the screenshots of the two kits to confirm the ICs in use. For the APU models from 4400-4600 on Zen2 (Renoir), it’s around 5000 on Zen3 (Cezanne) at full clock speed, but the CPUs share the same I/O die. This suggests a consistent 3800-4000 at 1:1 FCLK and possibly above 5000 for the desync FCLK. If you want to verify, just replace the 3600 setting and watch it run identically. A 3200 clock isn’t close to the limits, even in a tough tri rank setup—binning probably won’t affect it. The 5900x and other dual CCD chips tend to have slightly lower FCLK performance compared to single CCD chips.

I went with the 3600MHz CL18-22-22 right now—it's a solid choice. The 5900X is really powerful too!
