The Asrock B450 is not shutting down.
Hey everyone, I'm facing an issue with my PC not shutting down properly. On Windows 10, clicking Shutdown works fine, but fans, case, and RAM stay on. After about ten minutes, it won't power off, the case button doesn’t help, and eventually I have to press the PSU switch. The CPU and GPU aren’t heating up, yet the monitor still shuts down regularly. My system specs are: Asrock B450 Steel Legend Ryzen 3600 with stock cooler, no OC GSkill Trident Z RGB DDR4 1600mhz AMD HD 7870 Corsair RM750. The PC functions normally, but this problem has lasted three days and keeps happening. The PSU is connected to a UPS. How can I figure out what’s wrong?
It doesn’t seem logical, does it? Drivers from older models don’t just vanish overnight. Plus, the HD 7000 series likely had support until a few years ago.
It's still in older support, no more updates coming. A Win10 patch was released after that. If it hasn't been fully reinstalled and updated, the sleep issue might stem from outdated drivers or recent patches.
You might consider upgrading to Win11 now, especially if you need a newer operating system. The GPU upgrade you mentioned could be better handled later once you have a more stable setup.
Consider an intermediate fix instead of a direct solution. Instead of pressing the PSU button, keep the PC’s power switch pressed for 2-5 seconds. Most devices will shut down at that moment. It won’t be better or worse than the PSU option, but it might be easier to trigger.
