The Arkham Asylum GOTY edition cannot be played.
I've been searching online for the past eight hours attempting to resolve this problem, and I've tried all suggested solutions without success. Every fix I attempted failed to resolve the issue.
Each time I launch the game, the error appears. If I click 'Continue', strange black bars cover the GUI and the same message reappears.
I'm using Steam. The .Net Framework is set as Microsoft.

Check if it's a steam copy and attempt to verify the game cache integrity if needed.
