You're experiencing poor Wi-Fi performance despite being close to the router. Since your phone downloads apps quickly on Google Play, the issue likely lies with your network connection or signal strength. Consider switching to Ethernet for a more stable and faster connection, especially if you need consistent performance for emulating old games.

Consider rotating the router 180 degrees to see if signals work better in one direction. Verify other devices aren't consuming too much bandwidth. Check for firmware updates. Acquire an external USB Wi-Fi dongle, preferably compatible with Android. If none of these work, you might need to run cables through walls or ceilings.

Yes, you can connect your old phone via USB to tether Wi-Fi to the router.

I don't believe sharing Wi-Fi works when another device is also getting online through the same connection. The module isn't up for handling that. Using an old phone with a SIM card for internet twice isn't ideal—consider exchanging the TV box for a new one if performance remains poor. It might help to run a real speed test; perhaps the issue isn't your Wi-Fi but the server's latency!

I resolved it by setting my old phone as a Wi-Fi hotspot, connecting it to your router and placing it on top of the TV box. The TV box then linked to the phone, which improved the speed test results from 0.1–0.4 Mbps to around 12–20 Mbps. However, USB connectivity still doesn’t work.

Wow, only 2.5 meters away... Maybe the TV box is hiding behind the screen. Another idea comes to mind: interference from your neighbor's Wi-Fi. You could switch to a different channel on your router.
