Hello everyone, I've got a Ryzen 5 3600 that's getting really hot during games. I'm using the standard cooler and keeping the room temperature around 25-27°C. When I play games like Witcher 3 or Apex Legends, my CPU stays at about 48-50°C, but it spikes up to 80°C or more for a short time, then drops back down. Even after just a few minutes of play, it's still above safe levels. I checked the case and didn't see any obvious airflow problems. Is this normal for the cooler I have? Are there any mid-range options you'd suggest that could bring things down safely? Also, is the GammaX GT from Deepcool enough to reduce the temperature by around 20°C? It seems similar in performance to a Master 212 cooler. What's your take?

It runs smoothly at 60 FPS on Hyper 212 with 3600x resolution.

Reposition your cooler – it shouldn’t exceed 70-75 degrees with the standard model and current configuration. Is the ventilation active and connected to power?

Yes, it's spinning fast and I've already tried putting it back in place. I'm still unsure if using a used cooler will bring the temps down to a safe 70 degrees.

What kinds of games are you into? I can handle Doom, Dota 2, and CS Go without issues. However, Apex Legends, Monster Hunter, and The Witcher 3 tend to cause overheating.

The 3600 stock cooler is essentially low-quality gear. Even with the Prism model from a 3700X, I experienced temperatures in the 90s. Upgrading to a better cooler would really help.

It was on stock, not overclocked.

My tasks could be more demanding than what you play.

Considering aftermarket options, the Hyper 212 and Deepcool GammaX GT are solid picks—they’re affordable and provide a decent build.

The wraith Stealth performs much better than what I've seen in OP's results. Ryzen systems I've created don't have this temperature issue. There’s another problem to consider. My roommate’s setup is an overclocked 2600 with a prism, and it also doesn’t reach temperatures in the 90s.
