I bought a ready-made gaming setup from Best Buy around August 15, 2019 (about four months back). -------- My configuration -------- OS: Windows 10 Home CPU: AMD Ryzen 3 2300x 14nm RAM: 8GB DDR4 Single Channel @ 1199MHz Motherboard: MSI ASRock A320M-HDV R4.0 (AM4) Graphics: 2048MB ATI AMD Radeon RX 560 Series (XFX Pine Group) Storage: 476GB SanDisk SSD ------------------------------ ------------------------------ -------- My problem -------- The CPU's idle temperature hovers between 72°C and 74°C (162°F to 165°F). When I perform any action—like closing and reopening Speccy—I see a brief spike to around 85°C (185°F) before settling back. If I run antivirus, firewall, or a browser, the average climbs to about 85°C (185°F), sometimes reaching 95°C (203°F) for a short time before returning to the safe limit. When playing lightweight games at minimal settings, it stays steady near 95°C (203°F). After extended play, the system freezes and I must manually shut it down to prevent damage. Note: The GPU temps appear normal during use. ------------------------------ ------------------------------ ---- What I've attempted ---- 1) Replaced the stock cooler with a CoolerMaster Hyper 212 Black Edition. 2) Updated the UEFI BIOS to version 2.3 via Instant Flash Tool, following ASRock support guidance (older versions not advised). 3) Performed a clean Windows 10 installation with data erasure using the recovery tool. Scanned for rootkits afterward. 4) Reinstalled Windows 10 from a bootable USB on a secure system. 5) Followed steps 1–4, then immediately started using Speccy to monitor temps. ------------------------------ ------------------------------ -------- Concern -------- These temperatures are extremely high. I've looked up similar setups online and found no matches. My motherboard lacks over-clocking or under-clocking options, so I would have tried that anyway. Could it be a faulty component? Have I missed something obvious? ------------------------------

I tried something new and got some interesting results. These tools show CPU temps between 32°C and 34°C when idle. But Speccy is showing way higher numbers, and the game keeps crashing. What’s going on?

Speccy isn't known to work well with Ryzen. Consider reinstalling your graphics drivers from AMD's website. Before doing so, uninstall the existing drivers using DDU (and disable your network card to prevent Windows from installing an old driver when you restart). Check if this resolves the issue, and let me know your thoughts.

I’ve taken all your directions precisely. Right now I’m playing World of Warcraft on this device. I’ll let you know if anything goes wrong. Previously, crashes would occur after about 15 minutes to an hour.

We recently played WoW and it became unresponsive after about 44 minutes. The screen turned black, there was a buzzing noise from the speakers, but the machine kept running while I couldn’t interact with it. The display showed “No display detected.”

I’m planning to start a new discussion about gaming and unexpected computer crashes. Your input will help highlight that my system temperatures stayed normal.
