Hi,
I recently purchased an AMD FX6300 processor and chose to increase its clock speed from 3.5Ghz to 4.3Ghz using this tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T9uXysmgPi8. I performed stress tests with prime 95 and it remained stable for a short period. It never exceeded around 68c during testing. However, when I launched Cities Skylines and ran it on Ultra settings after roughly 20 minutes, the CPU began throttling. At full speed it would drop to about 1.7Ghz to manage heat. The room temperature was in the mid-70s Celsius. I purchased an aftermarket cooler to help, but it didn’t make a significant difference.

Could you advise what other overclocking targets would be suitable for this chip? Is 4.3Ghz too high? Might this guide contain inaccuracies? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

My specifications:
- AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz Socket AM3+ with 14MB cache, retail boxed
- MSI Radeon R9 380 GAMING 4GB GDDR5, dual-link DVI-D HDMI, PCI-E graphics card
- ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0 970 socket AM3+, 8-channel audio ATX motherboard
- HyperX Fury Red Series 16GB 1866MHz DDR3 CL10, 2 DIMMs
- Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO with 4 heatpipes and a 1x120mm fan for CPU cooling
- EVGA 600W white power supply with 80+ certification

You shouldn't strictly adhere to someone else's configurations. Overclocking isn't a precise art, and your settings will vary from others', so it's crucial to grasp what each setting does and its impact on the overclock.

Overcoming challenges in overclocking requires patience, as you repeatedly adjust settings while evaluating performance, thermal output, and cooling efficiency.
