Hello, I'm concerned about my CPU performance.
I own an AMD FX-8320 that originally runs at 3.5GHz with Turbo up to 4.0GHz.
I recently purchased ArmA 3 and experienced low frame rates.
Since I've overclocked before, I thought it would be a good idea to push it further at 4.5GHz with my Cooler Master 212 Evo cooler.
I managed to stabilize it and improve my FPS, but then I noticed something changed.
This morning I began using the computer and playing ArmA 3 Wasteland with friends.
Everything functioned as expected until recently.
After a while, I started streaming on Twitch with ArmA 3 and CS:GO.
Then, about 30 minutes ago, things changed.
When I launched ArmA 3 in multiplayer Wasteland, I saw my FPS drop to 9-10.
I stopped playing and tried the game "Black Mesa."
Both my monitors went dark for about 5 seconds.
I initially thought it was a glitch, but after 30 seconds it happened again and my PC shut down.
I quickly realized the issue was with my CPU.
I restarted my PC and opened "Open Hardware Monitor."
The CPU temperature was reading between 45-56°C during idle.
I ran Prime95 to test the limits, and it exceeded 60°C.
It stopped running Prime95, and now I'm seeking advice.
What might be causing this?
It previously ran at 25-35°C during idle.
My hardware details:
- GTX 970
- AMD FX-8320 overclocked to 4.5GHz
- Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo
- Gigabyte FX990-UD3
- 16 GB RAM
- 750W Gold PSU
- 500GB Samsung SSD
- 1TB HDD
- Cooler Master HAF 912 Plus

I'm unable to play games properly right now. I could shut down the PC and wait, but that doesn<|pad|>, wouldn't solve anything.
Thanks.

Your temperatures are elevated, but you shouldn't shut down the system. I'd also check the MB and GPU temperatures. To reduce your CPU temperature, disassemble the unit and remove any dust using compressed air. The following action is to apply fresh thermal paste after cleaning the old one with isopropyl alcohol. You already have a better CPU cooler, which should work well.

Ensure the CPU isn't set to operate at 4.5ghz when it's not required.
