Hi, your setup is quite interesting. 1) It's normal to keep the CPU fan off unless you notice overheating. 2) With the female cable connected via a USB port that isn't fully seated, the RGB display should still work as long as the connection is stable. You likely won’t need MSI Center for basic RGB functionality; it usually handles that automatically.
It's common for modern power supplies to operate quietly when the workload is low. Without a GPU, they might not run at all because the cooling demand is likely too low. All power supply functions should work properly even if the fans stay still. Some PSUs offer options to turn the fan on for better case airflow. For RGB features, you'll need the corresponding software and USB connection; otherwise, it will just display standard colors. A USB to USB 2.0 port is usually present in the PSU, which could be used instead of a separate header.
Thank you for your assistance. It doesn’t display the RGB rainbow directly. I’m fine with the default colors, but it’s not showing anything. I think the male and female connections need to be fully integrated. As mentioned, there’s a USB 2.0 port at 0, but I’m unsure where to place it inside the case on my X670E Hero ASUS motherboard.
The cable included with the PSU connects directly to the motherboard's USB 2.0 header. You can use any of the three options available.
I'll attempt this using the in-shaAllah from the ports. I believe the issue might stem from the fact that I'm using my Corsair 7000D's USB port, which could originate from the Corsair Core Controller.
The Corsair core controller connects via one of the USB 2.0 headers. I’m not sure the Corsair 7000d has a male port for USB 2.0... It actually uses USB 3.0 and USB-C. If you run out of headers, there’s an internal header hub or splitter available.
Corsair core controller also connects to a USB 2.0 header. Yes, it has a forkable man jack on the same cable I explained in the images above. One end goes into the controller and the other has two USB ports—one male and one female. I used the female for the motherboard as shown in ABC, and the male for this PSU RGB unit which doesn’t work that way.
I tried using a H115i but didn’t find a matching cable. The 7000D case doesn’t have any USB 2.0 connections from it either.
I traced the path of that wire. It’s clear as day. By the way, could you take a look at the next point? I’m curious about your thoughts. Thanks.
