The afterburner display remains unchanged despite trying to set a custom fan speed.
I have an OC profile stored in Afterburner, and just applied a custom fan curve. I want to ensure the GPU stays under 70 degrees during gameplay, so I increased the fan speed and adjusted it based on temperature. Satisfied with the curve I found, I played Fallout 4 (mix of high and ultra settings) for about 2-3 hours to test. The good news is Afterburner reported my GPU never exceeded 68 degrees, with a maximum usage of 80%. However, I noticed the fan speed remained constant at 49%, both low and high.
I verified all settings: user defined is selected, auto is off, and the predefined curve matches the custom one I created. I even tried disabling user defined mode and enabling auto, then reapplying it in Fallout 4 to see if the fan would adapt based on usage. Still no improvement.
What’s unusual is that when I set the fan speed slider in Afterburner’s main menu (keeping it at a fixed level, like 90%), it instantly updates and adjusts accordingly.
Any suggestions or solutions? My GPU is an MSI GTX 1060 6GB OCV1.
I can't really test this since my card is watercooled, but I'm pretty sure the auto fan needs to be turned on or else the fan will stay at a fixed speed. For a custom fan curve to function, both the auto fan and user fan button lights should illuminate.
