There are no assurances with OC. It’s been stable for nearly two years at 5GHz and 1.355V, but it can fail suddenly anytime.
This caused the degradation because pushing the LLC beyond its safe operating limit at higher voltages. Intel sets a 2.1 mOhms VRM load line for 138 amps, which translates to around 1.220v on the chip. Using a 0 mOhms load line exceeds these limits.
It might be the mobile VRM, I wouldn't even try running an 8600k on that chip or even test it at full load with a maxed-out LLC and a 5GHz 8086k on the board. Not to mention daily use. I expect it to fail within less than two years under these conditions.
I own a Z390 Extreme4 and I'm facing the same issue again—it's the CPU. Also, why isn't running an 8600k on a Strix H working with the same VRAM?
