It should be fine, that's the 4+4 pin connection for the CPU. The GPU uses a 6+2 pin setup.

It seems like you're suggesting a different orientation. The square should naturally sit in its current position. Consider trying it reversed.

It's actually about a slight difference in pin count between the cable and the motherboard connector.
