The 7900XT experienced a crash.
Hey, your computer has been acting odd recently. Displays would go dark while the system stayed operational and background videos played. The GPU fan reached maximum speed, and you couldn't see anything unless you restarted. When a display appeared, it was only on one-third of the screens, and in Device Manager it was disabled. After enabling it and restarting, everything worked fine. This happened three times after multiple fixes—formatting the PC, replacing the PSU, updating drivers, and more. What might be causing this? It could relate to the motherboard, RAM, GPU (even with warranty), or possibly the CPU.
Is everything fine now? It might have been your need to update or reinstall drivers. I experienced something similar recently—my HDMI connection would lose its lock, causing the cable to dangle and briefly showing only half the display before it completely cut out. Once secured properly, it stopped happening randomly. It seems more likely when using a video, game, or other demanding GPU tasks.
I hope it doesn’t happen again—it’s frustrating because it occurs right after I set up my PC and installed the GPU drivers, before I could restart. I’ve already unplugged everything from the GPU and reconnected it once, but it keeps happening randomly. It didn’t crash during intense gaming sessions, but it did when I was just browsing or watching videos.
It occurred once more after the system started without the GPU active; it repeated instantly. I restarted it again and then turned on the GPU before rebooting. Now everything functions properly. I attempted to clear dust from inside my EPM1350EWT power supply, thinking it might be showing signs of wear.
It's quite young, maybe just a few years old. It could be the one behind it.
I'm unsure if this will help. I experienced some unusual problems with my RTX 2060 Super. The screen would occasionally freeze completely and display random errors, along with occasional blue screens. Over the years, I didn't upgrade my power supply unit (besides the hard drives), but once I replaced it with a good one from reliable sources, everything stabilized. My previous PSU was quite old—a Cooler Master model I bought in early 2018—but many people warned about its poor quality. Unfortunately, I couldn't afford to replace it, so I ended up with a system that ran smoothly even with an undervolted CPU and GPU. Your PSU might not be delivering consistent power anymore.
