Yes, you can open the folder in Windirstrat to check how much space it occupies.

It seems to check in regularly and make changes. As mentioned, use WinDirStat.

He’s employing windirstrat already, yet for a reason it doesn’t appear to understand drilling into the structure further.

Updates may leave many files in the Windows folder if you wish to undo them. Press Start, type Disk Cleanup, and choose run as administrator (or run it and then click the shield button to include system files). Within a minute of checking, you’ll see available space from different sources, such as temporary internet files and past updates. You can then decide which areas to clean to free up disk space. Remember, cleaning these files means you won’t be able to reinstall the updates later.
