you have a basic grasp of overclocking, but this one is tricky. you're using a 6700k and gigabyte z170x motherboard, aiming for 4.5gHz, which is higher than expected. increasing the multiplier to 45 and leaving voltage on auto works, showing a jump from 1.32 to 1.38v. when you manually adjust the voltage, it always returns to auto mode. you're wondering if the chip is bad or if you're just not getting the best results. it seems like the issue might be related to the settings or the chip itself.

and when it's set to "auto," it shows just 1.3v, suggesting a possible strange adjustment made by the chip.

So I reset everything back to the default settings, except for my XMP configuration on the 3200MHz RAM. It’s causing my stock CPU to run at 1.325V and then failing Prime95 right away. Am I getting too much voltage from the motherboard? I know it should be around 1.2V, but I haven’t managed to adjust it manually yet.
