I chose a refurbished TP-Link 1Gb kit for a competitive price. My connection speed fluctuates between 550 and 624 Mbps, roughly 70MB/s from the NAS. The main advantages are minimal latency and no packet loss, which helped me set up my office phone for stable VOIP calls. It performs better than regular WiFi for gaming. Results differ depending on wiring conditions—old or aluminum cabling can affect performance. Typically I’d use CAT5e or CAT6, but since only one room needed reliable internet and home wiring was inconvenient, I went with this option quickly because of the pandemic.
Be mindful of Powerline when using DSL connections, as it may cause interference leading to slower speeds or unstable performance. Certain adapters support VDSL compatibility, likely preventing frequency overlap, though this could also limit their connection rate.
