Elden Ring, Satisfactory, cyberpunk vibes, Helldivers 2 plus a few small projects I worked on. I’m thinking about getting a new PC with the 7800x3d (or 7900x3d since it’s cheaper) and a 4070 super. It would be about 200 euros more than the 5700x3d upgrade. I’d rather skip AMD because I want a power-efficient build and don’t want to deal with some minor issues.

1. Regardless, since you're on Am4, you can get a 5700X3D for 200 bucks as a fine upgrade. While with AM4, you'd need to pay 150-200 bucks more for the CPU, a new Motherboard, new Ram. 2. Yes, it will Bottleneck your GPU hard. And no, it won't, because the GPU will bottleneck hard. Which ever of these 2 it is, has absolutely NOTHING to do with the Hardware. It's NOT possible for a CPU + GPU to be in "Harmony", and it's NOT possible to not have a Bottleneck at all. No Bottleneck would mean unlimited fps, that's not possible. Every single Gaming PC and Console has a Bottleneck somewhere. Without a single exception. That's why nobody should worry about Bottlenecks. It won't damage your Hardware, and it won't hurt you. Plus, it depends not only on the Game, but also Settings. If you play Cyberpunk on Low, your CPU will brobably Bottleneck. If you play on 4k Ultra + Patchtracing, your GPU will Bottleneck. 3. Understand what a Bottleneck even is, and you will never ask again A CPU is the Base. It Calculates the Data, the GPU needs to work with. Your CPU is able to deliver x FPS. No matter which resolution or which GPU it's paired with, there's a Limit. With more NPC density, Object Density etc, you can change that, sure. Those things need more CPU-Power. A GPU uses this Data, and renders Frames. How many? Depends on Game, Resolution, Settings, Ingame-Situation. Walking through a City, Woods or looking at a Wall? Different fps. Ask yourself, if the CPU delivers enough fps for you. If it doesn't, it's irrelevant if it's abottleneck, it won't deliver enough fps with any GPU on the market. If it does deliver enough fps for you, Bottleneck is not in Question anymore. Because you have enough fps. Let the GPU handle the rest. Is it too slow for your desiered settings? Reduce Settings, live with lower fps, or buy a faster GPU. Is your GPU at only 60% usage, because CPU bottlenecks it in older Games? Well, how much fps do you have? If you play CS:GO with a 300 fps Lock, your GPU will be bored, but that's more than enough fps. So no problem. If you play a Game, and your CPU only delivers 130 fps, your GPU could deliver 200 fps, but you're happy as long it's over 100 fps? All fine. Be happy with 130 fps, be Happy with a GPU that consumes less, runs cooler and quieter. Win-Win-Win. Maybe use a 100 fps-Lock for a perfectly consistent Experience. A CPU-Bottleneck is Selfmade If your GPU is bored, give it more to do. Increase Graphic Settings and make your game look better. Even in 1440p, you could even make a 4090 Sweat hard. TL;DR: Since you're on AM4, you could probably skip AM5. 5700 X3D is really damn good for the price, and a very cheap Upgrade. Just get that and a 4070 super / 4070 ti Super, and you're perfectly fine. Graphic Settings exist to be used. Use them according. It's super cheap Upgrade, use that untill the CPU doesn't get you enough fps anymore. But it will take a long time, untill a 5700X3D won't be able to get you 60-100 fps.
