I attempted a 450w power supply onto an Optiplex 3020 using an i5-4590 and a PSU adapter, but it didn’t function properly. The motherboard kept flashing orange. A 750w PSU with an 80+ bronze rating worked fine. Could you guess why this happened and recommend a suitable PSU?

The working PSU was the one that powered without issues, while the others failed to function properly.

The 450 isn't that old, but some power units struggle with very low idle.

Did the 450W model function prior to installation in the Optiplex?

Model and make of the 450W PSU are specified. Certain units fail to connect properly with Dell adapters, which is common.

It seems like you're comparing a situation where someone assumes a cause without enough evidence. This is like visiting a car repair shop with your car and expecting a specific part to fail because others worked, even though the issue might be elsewhere.
