Similar to the title, compare X3D CPUs such as the 5600X3D with the 5600X when it comes to games that need strong raw CPU performance, like BeamNG. Since you frequently play BeamNG and want to test your CPU limits, you're curious about which AM4 model can handle heavy traffic and parked vehicles effectively. The L3 cache in X3D CPUs might make a noticeable difference in speed.
The 57X3D offers around a 10% improvement over the 5600 in Forza H5 at 1080p Ultra resolution. It seems comparable to similar assets in games like WoW or New World, which provide significant benefits. If that's your main concern, consider other ways to utilize the $200 beyond just upgrading hardware. Also, do you experience RAM problems when dealing with heavy traffic?
I have a 32GB DDR4 3000 (clocked at 2666), so that’s not the main reason. I’m not focusing only on improving BeamNG performance with my R5 2600, but also considering the memory controller. I’m just trying to map out an upgrade plan.
Oh if you have the 2600, then it would be a stellar upgrade and I'd say it's worth it over the 5600X for the money, as you'll be maxxing the socket for all intents and purposes. I thought you have the 5600X and were looking to replace it with the 5700X3D. There is the 5800X on sale right now too, in the US, if you want. Tho the 5600X for $112 US is attractive. Can't go wrong with any of them, to be honest.
Simulation games usually gain a lot from X3D support, which suggests it will work well here. I've checked some BeamNG profiles for 5800X3D, but the results seem mostly based on rumors. It looks like having more cores helps if you want to run more vehicles, so 5800X3D should still beat 5600X in that aspect, though I can't confirm whether X3D actually makes a difference in this specific game.
If we expect a comparable gap, it's reasonable to assume the 5600X3D will outperform the 5600X in BeamNG. Now I just have to be lucky and locate an X3D CPU on local marketplaces. Just noticed that the 5600X3D is available only through the Micro Center. Ugh. It seems I might need to consider a 5700X3D instead.
