With 3300x offering a greater maximum boost clock compared to 3600, it should potentially provide better FPS in Fortnite.

Other factors beyond frequency and core count contribute to a CPU's design. Things like cache arrangement, IPC for the FPU, and other components play a role. Regarding your question, modern games don't typically require six cores, so performance differences between the 3300X and 3600 are minimal in gaming. We can't predict future trends, but the 3600 is likely to remain more durable.

In current titles, performance can vary from nearly the same to a 10-15% boost on the 3600. AAA games are now delivering significantly higher speeds, often exceeding 8 threads.

The Optimum Tech video is really impressive. My take is about getting the best value you can. Since others have noted the Ryzen 3 offers good performance, especially with a decent graphics card, it makes sense to upgrade. For AAA games, the Ryzen 5 stands out and will perform better as new consoles release. I’ve noticed the Ryzen 3’s stock has been tough to find lately, but if you consider it a solid step up and invest in a better GPU, it could be a smart purchase.
