Hey everyone, I hope you're all doing fine. I'm talking about my Ryzen 5 2600x, which I bought about six months ago. My setup was around that time. At first, everything worked smoothly until I noticed it only reached a maximum boost speed of 4GHz. I tested it using Prime95, Cinebench with single core and single thread, and hwinfo along with Ryzen Master to keep track of the frequencies. It would hit 4GHz at full capacity when running Cinebench on single core/single thread. My cooling setup is the standard cooler, and my idle temperatures stay between high 40s and low 50s. Stress tests like Cinebench or Prime95 usually take over 80s to reach high temps after a long period. I considered it might be related to the power plan—though it was set to Ryzen Balanced, which was turned on when installing chipset drivers. Could there be something missing? Is thermal performance affecting the boost clocks? Thanks for your thoughts on this. Here are my other system details if that helps. All BIOS settings except XMP are auto or default.

The Ryzen boost performance is strongly affected by temperature. Reducing voltage can help it generate less heat and allow higher boost speeds by keeping temperatures down at those speeds. I lowered the voltage on my 2700X heavily, which let me maintain top boost clocks with the stock Prism cooler for extended periods. It was a bit noisy but stayed below about 70°C (probably around that), where clock speeds start to drop noticeably. If you need better cooling, consider upgrading your cooler.

Only occurs when the temperature drops sufficiently; hitting 80°C isn't optimal and the CPU won't ramp up to full speed.
On my friends 1600AF and my 2700X at a 0.100 undervolt proved stable. I used a negative offset and lowered the load line calibration to its lowest or second-lowest setting. The LLC boost increases voltage during load, but it’s often too high by default. I’d begin by reducing LLC to the second-lowest, then check temperatures and stability, followed by the lowest LLC. Next, test a negative offset in 0.025-volt increments until performance meets your target of 4.2ghz auto boost. It may not be achievable with the stock cooler, but adjustments could bring you very close. In short, switching to a $30 heat pipe tower cooler would likely work too, and combining both options could yield a quieter, cooler system.
That's probably about all that'll be stable to be honest, llc will account for anything else you can wring out of it in automatic. Hopefully that gets the temps down more for you. Is that the spire or stealth cooler? Be sure to lookup how llc works on your board, my Asus is backwards with 5 being the lowest and her msi board was 1 being the lowest. Theres no consistency in numbering it even naming with some calling it other things.
