Hey everyone, just checked my new monitor – it’s a 1080p, 240Hz model. Connected via HDMI to my laptop, but it’s only showing 200Hz instead of the full 240Hz. I’m curious if there’s a setting I should adjust or if something else is limiting it. The driver updates are current, and I’m not seeing any clear guidance from the search results.

It could indeed be limited by the cable. Also, check the settings on your GPU's control panel for any adjustments to the refresh rate.

I was just mentioning the need to adjust the refresh rate in your NVIDIA/AMD control settings. However, if you've already done that and your maximum is set to 200Hz, that doesn't matter much. Could you tell me what version of your cable you're using? And what type of port is connected to your computer—like HDMI 2.0 or something else?

Many displays use a higher frame rate than their native capability. To achieve 144Hz instead of 120Hz, I switch from RGB to YCbCr422 in Nvidia's Control Panel. The visual impact in games isn't noticeable, but text on white backgrounds appears less vibrant. I stick with 120Hz for stability. Others suggest reviewing the manual, which often details supported frame rates per input type and PC compatibility. Also, the output from your PC matters—HDMI 2.1 ports and cables are essential if your PC only supports HDMI 2.0. The same applies to DisplayPort.
