The 24-pin connector could be melting due to overheating or electrical issues.
Hi there! Welcome to the forum. This is my first post. I wanted to ask about a quick concern regarding my 24-pin cable. Does it appear as if it’s overheating or melting? I noticed some Reddit discussions suggesting sharpie markings, but this one seems different. Maybe I’m being too sensitive, but any thoughts on what might be wrong and how to fix it would be really helpful!

PC use: Schoolwork and light gaming/game recording (LoL, COD MW2, CS:GO, Diablo 4, Xdefiant) yesterday included
Issues: No major performance drops or BSODs
Occasionally I check HWMonitor during games and reached up to 79°C during a XDefiant load screen, but it stayed around 55°C most of the time. I took several pictures because I didn’t want to miss anything. Thanks all!
Looks completely fine to me, I see absolutely nothing wrong. Sharpie markings are common. Safe to use. Sharpie markings or ink is common on Corsair RM series, its Quality control markings.
You could technically eliminate all the plastic from this plug and simply attach the metal components to the mobo pins. That would work fine. But the plug is much simpler and more secure. As long as the interior of the plug looks clean—free from foreign metal fragments—and the motherboard connector appears clear, it should be okay. Even if the plastic gets slightly damaged, if it doesn’t ignite anything or cause a fire, there might have been a problem with the PSU, but it’s resolved. Continue using it unless you encounter issues.
Have you noticed any scent? A noticeable smell would indicate melting plastic. I share your thoughts on this, and it seems fine from what I see.
