Your concern would be clearer if you posted it now instead of revisiting it a year ago. The 7700k remains a solid performer. At 1440p it should handle decent frames without issues. I’m using a non-K/2080 model and don’t see the need for a CPU upgrade at that resolution. Upgrading isn’t necessary, which is why I haven’t done it. Nobody really understands how much better the 3xxx will be compared to the 2xxx, but I still believe the 7700k will work fine.
