Hello, I'm using an MSI MEG X670E GODLIKE with a 10GbE port. It's connected via an Unify SFP+/RJ45 module to an USW Enterprise 8 PoE. Windows reports no cable is connected, so I replaced the cable but nothing changed. Device Manager lists it as working. I've reinstalled and reinstalled the driver, yet it still doesn't work. The board also has a 2.5G port that functions properly. Since the 10G port isn't lighting up when I plug in a cable, is it possible the port is faulty? The device hasn't been around long—bought it in January this year. It's odd that Windows recognizes the port but can't detect the connected cable. Anyone have suggestions on what to try next? Cheers

Do you have any coverage for the motherboard? If so, take advantage of it. The port might be worn out after some use with PoE, as Ethernet over power can sometimes affect network connections.

I concur as well. Begin by verifying warranty status. A non-functional port might result from shorted contacts. Use a flashlight to inspect the port closely for any metal parts touching other contacts, the casing, or debris. If everything appears normal, the issue could lie with integrated circuits or damaged solder joints. To assess these, you may need to disconnect and remove the board. The port typically has 8 solder points for cables plus 2-5 for the casing. Solder connections on the motherboard usually hold up unless the connector is frequently plugged in and unplugged. It’s wise to confirm warranty eligibility before proceeding.
