I haven’t received my old Compaq or the build I’m working on. Parts are still arriving, so with the time I had before everything arrived, I thought I’d download the .iso from microsoft.com. Chrome OS isn’t loading or copying it to my PNY 32GB flash drive. Am I making a mistake or is there an issue? Also, if Chrome OS won’t get Win10 onto the drive, can you recommend a Linux distribution so I can install it once the system is ready?

Yes, you can access it through Chrome OS. Here’s a link you can use: https://www.chromebooks.com/downloads/

Are you simply transferring it to the flash drive or writing it directly onto the storage device? If you're attempting to start from the drive, copying might not be sufficient.

The operating system marks files as free once deleted, but this label can change when moving data between devices. Transferring a hard drive might affect whether the deletion tag remains intact.

No, both operating systems require specific hardware configurations to boot successfully. Running one on a 32-bit system won't work on a 64-bit system, and vice versa.
