You're experiencing an issue with your H410M H V2 motherboard where only one RAM slot is functioning. It's helpful to check connections, ensure the correct RAM type is installed, and verify that the slot matches your motherboard's specifications. If you need further guidance, feel free to ask!

I think the same RAM stick functioned in the other port. Have you attempted to clear the CMOS settings?

A DIMM designed for one slot won’t fit in another. Reset CMOS and allow it to reset itself. If that fails, reinsert the CPU carefully and apply extra thermal paste when installing the cooler. The memory controller is integrated into the CPU, meaning the slots connect directly to it.

Welcome to the forums! Follow these steps: start with booting using one stick in the correct slot. Test each stick to verify quality. Check the CPU and socket. Remove the cooler, pull out the CPU, shine light into the socket (don’t touch the connector), examine pins for bends, inspect the bottom of the CPU, look at the pads (avoid touching the bottom), search for scratches. If bends are found, the socket is faulty—return the board. Scratches may indicate a damaged CPU, requiring replacement. Step 3: reinstall the CPU carefully, ensuring the cooler is evenly secured on all screws. Try booting with RAM in the wrong slot. Insert a known good stick and see if it boots. If it works, the CPU mount was incorrect. If it still fails, the motherboard is likely dead—contact RMA.

Verify both sticks are functional first. If one fails, gently wipe golden pads using 99% IPA on a tissue; even a damp finger works if needed. Avoid excessive pressure near the edge of the RAM to prevent injury. Try remounting the CPU multiple times to check booting from the dead slot. Skip cooler mounting—it slows performance significantly. Just mount it normally without thermal paste, as it should suffice. If problems persist after cleaning and rechecking all components, including repeated testing, consider replacing the board. I’ve handled similar issues with my P5Q and other boards; this method is practical knowledge I’ve refined through trial and error. If you’re unsure, return or resell and get a new one.
