Textures load slowly in games due to high-quality settings.
Hello, I've started playing Lost Ark and observed that certain textures load more slowly than others. Initially they appear low quality—almost like a blocky mesh—and only after a few seconds does a higher resolution version replace it. This behavior is similar to what I experienced in Cyberpunk 2077, though I initially thought it was just a bug from the release. Both games are installed on the same SSD, but I'm unsure if the issue lies with the storage device itself. I've attached some screenshots showing the low-quality texture and its updated version. My system specs are: Windows 11, Intel i7-9700K (3.6GHz), 16GB DDR4-2666, GeForce RTX 3080, 500GB SATA SSD (containing both titles). It seems my drivers are current and I haven't encountered this problem in other games. Thank you in advance for any suggestions.
The game is loading assets from storage into memory. The main challenge lies in how efficiently those assets are transferred to RAM. The speed at which the drive and RAM operate determines whether this becomes a bottleneck. Since each game has its own coding style, performance can vary. Ideally, a high-speed drive paired with fast RAM would resolve the issue. If that isn't possible, opting for the quickest compatible drive/ram combination available is the best approach. Otherwise, updating to a new operating system might be necessary to address any outdated code in the game or drivers.
It's a visual result from an old optimization method commonly used by game creators. Nothing to be concerned about. Completely typical.
