Cut the pagefile size to 500MB and it didn’t help much. I’m not sure what’s happening with GTA anymore… Some users seem affected, others don’t.

Hey there, would you like to try another approach? Consider removing any antivirus software from your PC just in case it’s causing problems. This includes Microsoft Security Essentials if it’s installed. Another suggestion: backing up your important files—photos, save games, documents, etc.—and then reinstalling Windows from the start could help clear things up. I’m aware Windows 10 has a built-in option to restore to previous state, but for Windows 7 you’ll need the installation media.

I'm using the F-Secure antivirus with a paid license. I didn't want to upgrade because Windows 8.1 had issues before, so I moved to Windows 10 and it worked fine.

Hey there! You might want to check if you can bypass or whitelist the GTA V folder in F-Secure. That could stop it from scanning the files during loading.

Disabled F-Secure and attempted to play, no noticeable change. Might purchase it for PS4 later. Will check the next update before deciding.

I experienced the same issue on PS4, possibly due to a failing hard drive even though I replaced it with a new one.

The main issue was the Shader Cache, which you need to disable. Go to Right Click on the desktop, select Nvidia Control Panel, then Manage 3D settings, scroll down to find Shader Cache, set it to OFF, press Apply. This should resolve the problem with your I5 4690 and GTX 760.

Lower VRAM Hungry configurations or opt for an SSD upgrade.
