Textures are loading slowly or not at all
Over the past year I've experienced slow or failed texture loading. Initially adjusting settings helped sometimes, but now even simple games like Black Desert Online cause delays—NPCs, characters, and environments won't load at all. Sometimes it takes over 10 minutes just to begin playing. Recently, with Genshin Impact and Honkai Impact on my SSD, I encountered the same issue: NPCs, my own avatars, buildings, and landscapes wouldn't load. I assumed the problem was due to a full hard drive, so I cleaned it down to about 75% capacity, but that didn’t resolve the issue (hard drive might still be an issue). I also noticed smaller titles loaded fine on my SSD, but I’m unsure if the cause is tied to specific games or hardware. If you have any leads or tests you recommend, please share them.
P.S. My PC was built in 2016/2017 and I upgraded the CPU about six months ago.

I’m not sure if this was related to pre-loading textures or if it points to another issue.
EDIT: After uninstalling and reinstalling BDO on my SSD, all loading became fast and easy. I think that resolved the problem. Thanks for the help!

That's correct! The drive seems to be functioning well and you have the improved model. The dm008 is an SMR drive and should not be used for anything other than archival purposes.
Which motherboard are you using?
