testing how my vcore is configured
testing how my vcore is configured
Hello, this is your first attempt at basic overclocking. I successfully reached 4.4GHz on a 1.2vcore without any problems, passing all stress tests like Prime95. At 4.5Ghz I met IntelBurnTest and a few other tests on the same voltage, but Prime95 began failing on one core. I gradually increased the voltage and only stabilized at 1.3v until I hit 4.5Ghz. The peak temperature around 71°C looks acceptable.
From what I've read, reaching 1.3v isn't unusual for achieving 4.5Ghz on my I5 6600k processor, though it was unexpected that it felt so smooth at 4.4Ghz with 1.2v. I was surprised it needed such a big jump to 4.5Ghz.
My question is... is this voltage change typical? I expected it to be smoother. Also, since I passed IBT and OCCT, should I worry about a single core failing Prime95?
Thanks!
My 4690k also does a similar pattern, I experienced a significant jump between x44 and x45. If I were you, I’d stick with the 4.4Ghz 1.2Vcore and maybe tweak it by lowering the Vcore slightly to achieve better temps. You could also jump to 4.5Ghz and boost it to 1.3V.
Yes, it goes from 0 to 100 really fast with such a small change. If there’s a prime error, I’d go back to a stable Overclock, benchmark it, save the profile, and then keep going.
I’d definitely be happy with 4.4Ghz.
