What’s the simplest method to check the cable linking the power switch to the motherboard? I couldn’t get my computer to boot after the rebuild, but the PSU tests fine and I can manually jump the power switch pins on the motherboard using a regular screwdriver.

A multimeter is the clear option. The on button creates a brief connection between the two wires. This is visible when using a multimeter. You might need to employ short wire sections to establish contact with the pin sockets.

By coincidence, the header on the motherboard consists only of a switch wire for one connection and a ground for another. Briefly connecting the two wires (or one to ground) activates the board's power. With caution, if you briefly connect the correct pins, a simple tool like a screwdriver can momentarily start the system.

Almost answered your own inquiry.
If it functions with your reliable screwdriver but not with the switch, the issue might lie either in the cables or the button itself.
The power button of a computer is now typically a momentary normally open switch. This means it only connects the two wires and transmits a signal when pressed. You can check the button; if it works mechanically, the remaining problem is likely the cables, and your best choice would be to replace them.

Lian-li doesn’t offer a replacement front I/O panel with the power switch included. I’m concerned I might have to discard an entire case because the switch or wire is damaged. I’ve been looking on Amazon for replacement cables, but most options involve some modifications to the case. I wish I could share the photo to post. If I locate the cable itself, I’d simply swap it out.

The cables are probaly very easy to find. Any jumper cable on amazon can probably handle that amount of electricty. If you have very basic soldering skills, you could replace those cables. Maybe you don´t even have to solder them. Some I/O panels have pins as well. I hope that you can upload a photo soon or find one online and send a link. Please send a link to the case or the name of the case.
I wouldn´t do that. Even if you like the aesthetics, you can still just hook up a different buttton and pull the cables through a slot at the back.
Something like this for example

If you wish to swap the cables:
This guide could help:
How to Crimp a JST or Dupont connector
It is a 6-pin JST Connector. It may be a JST SH or Xh type. I can't accurately identify it from the photo.
Required Materials:
Connector Kit
Various Cables
Crimping Tool

Reach out to Lian Li via email or another method, and they are likely to send you a new cable and power switch.
