Checked hwinfo, but it showed 1.36v instead of the expected ~1.2v at 8700k on a Maximus hero board.

I've worked with both my i7 8086ks and the old der8auer video for about four years. One of them still runs at 5.1ghz across all cores, while I used a 1.35v setup. The video also clarifies why 1.36v isn't a problem.

Alright, I updated it to 1.25 in the bios. The system froze after about 20 minutes while running AIDA64, but it didn’t actually reduce temperatures much. So I left it on auto mode.

3600mhz cl16, lower speeds. 1.15v-1.18v. I own the same board and CPU. Installed is 4267mhz on the die. 4000mhz cl-16, I run at 1.18v. 1.36v correct, for ultra-fast and precise timing. Like CL12 3800mhz and above, expect some CPU throttling and top-end cache speed. Asus is known for reliability issues. Review the SPD timing table in BIOS and match it with XMP settings. It should provide a few extra values—make sure they’re configured properly. What’s the memory kit part number?

It's well understood that it gets warm. I'm part of the group that believes such apps are unnecessary unless you're seeking an issue. Right now, I'm focused on temperatures.

I achieved a 4.7 with 1.17v, cache at 4.5mCGA67°C in Aids 64 and 10 loops of R23. The R23 score dropped from 9700 to 9100, so it’s not a huge gain. Temperatures are much better now, which means I likely should keep this setup for the summer.
