System 1 uses Windows 10 7900x with Rampage extreme VI. It runs on 16 RAM, connected to a network via a 1Gb port and a 10Gb port plugged into the server. The Ubuntu 18.04 server has 16GB RAM, an ASUS Aeorion 10GIG card installed directly, with the 1Gb port set to DHCP in the 192.168.1.1-100 range and the 10Gb port using manual IPs 10.1.20.1 and 10.1.20.2, gateways pointing to each other, metric 10 on the 10Gb link and 20 on the 1Gb. The connection established in about five seconds but kept trying to reconnect. When both cards are active on the Windows machine they stop functioning. I tested the 10Gb port on the LAN and it worked (though only 1Gb), so I’m confused. I’ve swapped cards, reinstalled drivers and OS, disabled firewalls, but still can’t reach the other machine—ping returns only to itself.

Subnet mask set to 255.255.255.0, gateway left blank. Assuming the link is active.

Avoid configuring the default gateway unless you're connecting to the internet via that interface.

The subnet mask was set to 255.255.255.0, you disabled the gateway restart and it didn't resolve anything.

You need to reach a meeting location, but a search suggested using a dual-nic configuration for better performance.

Check the screenshots of the network configuration on both devices. It’s unclear where it’s looking for information. You can send a message if needed. The link appears to be working consistently.

The connection appears active, yet the target server cannot be accessed.

Check the section related to IPv4 or the general configuration for jumbo packets settings.
