Hey everyone! I just got a brand new PC with a fresh CPU, motherboard, RAM, and cooler. My idle temperatures aren’t dropping below 36°C—they’re usually between 41°C and 46°C. Sometimes they jump up to around 60°C unexpectedly. Is that typical? I’ve got a Ryzen 5 5600X, an RTX 3070, a 750W power supply, and MSI MPG X570 with Wi-Fi. I also changed the case fans to NZXT S340 and connected them via the MOBO’s fan connectors. They have three pins, but I tried adjusting their speed in BIOS, though it got overwritten by Dragon Center, so I set them manually. The settings I used are: 40°C at 50%, 55°C at 70%, and 70°C at 100%. I’m not sure if this is safe or not, and I’d really appreciate any advice. Thanks!
Adjust the CPU fan speed to maintain the desired temperature. If the fan runs at 50% but overheats, the idle speed isn't sufficient, causing fluctuations in temperature during inactivity.
Yeah, I experience comparable temperatures too. Since I'm in the tropics, I think it's manageable. I've looked into it and others seem to have similar results with the 5600x and Hyper 212 models. As long as the CPU doesn't hit high 80s, everything should be okay.
