I assembled a PC for a friend using an R7 5800X. They ordered all components from Newegg, but the cooler wasn’t included with the CPU. I borrowed a cooler from another build I recently completed (they had used a different one). The CPU was cooled by a cooler that came with an R5 4500. I’m worried about the temperatures while playing BeamNG.drive.
The stock cooler for an R5 4500 isn't enough for a 5800X. A Peerless Assassin SE would be a better choice. Downloading games via Steam demands significant CPU resources, particularly with quick downloads; the processor must handle both installation and high temperatures, which often rise during the process. These heat levels are quite intense, making a more effective cooler necessary.
AIDIA64 is displaying 90c° in the game, but your comfort zone is up to 80c°.
A larger cooler will certainly improve the situation. The standard cooler for the 4500 model isn’t sufficient for the 5800x. Its maximum operating temperature is 90°C, meaning the temperatures you’re experiencing are clearly problematic.
This setup includes a 120mm blue intake fan. Could installing another identical 120mm intake improve performance? It’s drawing in more air, yet the cooler is only moving a limited amount.
